Oh [F]Mother, you gotta love her [Bb] she sure[F] has been good to [C]you
Oh [F]brother you gotta [Bb]love her and be [F]good [C]to her [F]too
You know we [Dm]can do [Am]better, and we [Dm]better do better [Am]soon
If we [Dm]do this tog[Am]ether we can [Dm]do a whole lot b[C]etter than we're [Bb]doing [F]
Dry your [F]eyes, and dry your [C]clothes on the [F]line
Let it [Dm]all hang out in the [Am]sun shine, it [Dm]takes some care and [Am]some time
But you [Bb]know when you're done, [C] that you done [F]fine
Live your life nice and light on the planet
There's no need to fuss or to panic
You just figure out what sucks and you ban it
And whatever you do, do it organic
Oh [F]Mother, you gotta love her [Bb] she sure[F] has been good to [C]you
Oh [F]sister we gotta [Bb]love her and be [F]good [C]to her [F]too
You know we [Dm]can do [Am]better, and we [Dm]better do better [Am]soon
If we [Dm]do this tog[Am]ether we can [Dm]do a whole lot b[C]etter than we're [Bb]doing [F]
Get your food from your friends on a farm
Our eats don't need to go so far, if we get up off of the sofa
And get the stuff that grows local
Plant some seeds and grow some greens in your yard
Or dig it up and plant an orchard, once you start it's not all that hard
And if we want to go on then we have to get back to the garden
[Chorus, brother version]
Leave the meat on its feet and eat some beets
Everything is eaten and everything eats, but that doesn't mean the we need to eat meats
Because we'd need a lot less if we just ate leeks
We all come from what our mum, and our dad did
So if you've got kids really care about it, but if you don't then maybe do without it
Because this whole wide world is getting crowded
[Chorus, sister version]
Let the things that you buy be quite few
Make sure they're actually good for you, only buy things new if you really need to
Because the less that you buy the less things will die for you
Do reduce and repair and reuse
Because if you snooze you loose through single-use, so refuse to use the refuse
Because landfill land is looser land-use
[Chorus, brother version]
Leave the car in the yard and ride a bike
Take the bus or a train if you like, or pack a lunch and say it's a hike
Or stick your thumb in the sun and like hitch-hike
Leave your feet or the earth next to mine
Leave the flying to the fruit flies, and the birds who do fine
'Cause there are way safer ways to get high
[Chorus sister version]
Get your folks off the phone, and out of doors
'Cause when we're there more then we're aware more, and when we're aware then we care more
And what we care for is what we're there for
So find delight in the what's right all around
There's a million things to make you frown, but it makes it worse when you're feeling down
And there's a whole lot of good still to be found
[Chorus brother version]
